too tired for song lyrics tonight

Wow...I'm an idiot sometimes. I was extremely creeped out by the fact that someone on the college network had reached my diary, using the Linux browser Konqueror so there was no referring link, until I realized that was me, on the mathLAN, curious about how my layout looks in Konqueror.
Conclusion? The textbox kind of sucks, but I don't know what's causing the problem so I don't know how to fix it. I suspect it's a problem with the way Konqueror handles the scrollbar, in which case the problem is a flaw in the browser and not my fault. A browser should know how to handle textbox overflow without cutting off parts of the text. (And a designer should know what flaws various browsers have and how to compensate for them. I've certainly had to compromise for the sake of IE's deficiencies in implementing standards. But then, practically everyone who sees my diary has IE, while only a few visitors use Konqueror.)
The page also scrolls down really far, even though my background image is only 800x600. Again, this makes no sense, so I choose to blame the browser. This is fully valid code with no strange tricks, so if Konqueror can't handle it then the open-source people need to get their acts together.
I'm very nearly finished with this important psych paper. I've been very nearly finished for the past 3 1/2 hours. Instead of trying to write my conclusion in that time, I have been trying to determine whether or not Russia would have something to gain by aiding terrorists. My search has not been fruitful. It seems to me that Russia's best hope for economic growth is to have U.S. support, but that's just common sense talking. Common sense has no place in politics.
On the other hand, I know that from the Bush administration's point of view, at least, deterioration of relations with Russia would be a good thing. It would reopen a whole wealth of ways to keep people scared and willing to accept an increasing level of fascism.
